Kommentit: It’s very basic communication. It’s good for a small team 10 people or less but not good for small business. Compare to Microsoft Teams, Slack has a lot to catch up in terms of versatility.

Great tool that allows us to practice what we preach when working with our clients

Kommentit: My company is small and started using it this year. The rollout has been smooth in some cases and bumpy in others. The biggest problem I run into is other users not knowing how to use it. However, as we train each other and our clients, it gets a bit easier everyday and is incredibly.

There are many things i like about it! -How many apps it integrates with -That I can manage projects both internally and externally and communicate freely -All of the templates are helpful and good quality - many of them are perfect right out of the gate -That you can communicate via threads so the main message board remains clean and not bogged down with a ton of back and forth -That you can choose which parts of threads you want to post to the comment board if needed. -The ability to create workflows

There are a couple of things I don't like: -With workflows, you can't create conditional steps. For example, if I want to create a form where the questions change based on the answer to the prior question, you aren't able to do so. You essentially have to make additional workflows/forms for each. -It gets a bit messy, even if you're great at setting up notifications, channels, communicating through it etc., it can get out of control quickly. Plus, you also have to rely on other people's knowledge on how to use the tool. If someone you're communicating with doesn't know Slack well, you can't be sure if they'll understand how to check for message, have proper notifications etc.

Kommentit: As a communication tool, the overall quality is excellent, with no need to worry about bugs. It offers various features, and it’s up to you how to make use of them. By integrating with desired apps, we could automate certain tasks within Slack. For large organizations, Slack alone can serve as an assistant, making it an excellent tool for time management.

Great platform with room to grow

I love everything about slack. I have had to use other messaging services in the past and slack has everything you need and more - emojis, gifs, workflow automations, channels, groups. It is fabulous

Honestly - nothing big comes to mind. I love using Slack. I have noticed a bug recently were messages on my phone are quite delayed compared to my desktop app but this is very minor

Slack is easy to train on and lets you show off your personality. It also has many hacks and tricks that most people don’t know about, like setting reminders, sharing a GIF instantly, and mentioning individuals, only those online, or an entire channel. It’s a smart system that I love using.

The ease of communication between teams, colleagues, and even adding a second or third company is so easy. I also love how easy it is to start a 'video call' huddle with anyone in your organization. With one click, you’re chatting over video, sharing your screen, and connecting with someone on the other side of the world. It also integrates very well with Zapier, Google, Asana, Calendly and many more.

I'm not sure if this is a Slack issue or a user issue. I’m an Apple product fanatic; however, when my Slack is buzzing with notifications from all the workflows and channels I’m in, my phone, laptop, and watch all go off simultaneously, which can be overstimulating. Although I’ve turned off notifications on my watch (for my sanity), there are times I wish only certain channels would communicate to it.

A fundamental tool for collaboration within the workplace

Kommentit: Slack is the main tool in my role. In a fully remote position, the entire workday happens on slack, which is a reliable tool to manage conversation within a team, and across different teams. The integration with external tools (eg Knowledge Management tool) that allows to surface them within the Slack interface facilitates conversations since it allows to stay within the tool.

Slack as an excellent work team manager

Kommentit: My overall experience with Slack was very good and I would recommend using it. Having had the chance to use both the free version and the paid version, I think that by making the small changes regarding the access to the history of old messages it would be the definitive platform for companies and team management. On the other hand, with full access through payment, you have full control of everything and no complaints at all.

For me, the best thing about Slack is the possibility of highlighting important messages, being able to make notifications such as wake-up calls and being able to gather important files for a work team within the same chat as a team. In addition to this, as an employee I appreciate the possibility of rotating between the status of “available, absent and unavailable” even while inside the platform.

The worst of Slack or rather its areas of improvement are in the limitations of the free experience, such as the search for files and messages that have limitations to be no more than 6 months old (I think there should not be limitations on the search for messages but perhaps keep it in the archives unless they are super important files marked by the team leader as indispensable).

Slack is a must have for your development team

Kommentit: My favorite instant messaging tool for the workplace, especially since I am on a development team. The integrations also create a single place to get updates on all of the work going on.

Easy to use, lots of plug ins and integrations. Developers love this app and it allows you to create channels as well as small adhoc groups to keep people up to date and have quick conversations. Huddles are also very convenient for a quick oral conversation. We have integrated it with Atlassian to keep people up to date on tickets and changes in status. We also have channels with external partners to make communication with them even easier.

Sometime the number of channels and direct messages you have available at any time can be overwhelming. You can remove yourself from channels and delete direct messages but often there are a lot that you want to keep up with.

What’s Slack? Opinion Based on my Experience
